There is a lot that can be said about my experience with Call of Duty Warzone.

“It was the best of times; it was the worst of times.” Charles Dickens, A Tale of Two Cities

The overall style of gameplay is a first-person shooter in a battle royal setting. You can play solo against multiple other opponents or have a team ranging from duos, trios, or quads.

The different team options have varied as they continue to make updates and release new seasons. I often move between solos, duos, and quads depending on if I am looking for a challenge or if I am just wanting to play 1:1. I recently switched from Xbox to PC and overall I played more when I was using Xbox. This game is addicting, and the developers do everything they can to get you to keep playing. If you die during a regular Battle Royale match you will be sent to the Gulag to fight against one other player. You will have one gun of the choosing of the game and after a few seconds, you will also have throwable equipment. There is also the option to defend the flag in gulag and if you defend it for long enough you’ll win. After you win gulag, you are sent back into the same game able to compete to be the last one alive. If you are playing duos, trios, or quads, your teammates can buy you back with the money they find on the map.

GUNS & THE LOADOUT

Let us start with the obvious part; first-person shooters can immediately turn me off if the guns are not up to standards. Personally, I prefer the realistic style that they have chosen for warzone over guns you may see in games like Borderlands, call of duty zombies, fortnight, and so on. Those guns do have their own creative style and can fit for those games but if I had to choose, I would pick the sounds of a real gun. If you prefer more fantasy style and less realism, then Warzone probably is not your dream game. Warzone allows for gun customization and adding unique attachments to give you more range or more fire power. Below is similar to my loadout choice that we will discuss in a different blog post but will give you a good visual of the realistic style of guns.

Basic loadout, usually customizing one gun for close range and the other gun for long range.

THE MOVEMENT

Every game has its glitches and lag is a never-ending nightmare. Warzone does a decent job of fixing bugs and recognizing issues with guns being overpowered or underpowered. I used to play on Xbox and have recently switched to PC so let us discuss both!

Xbox One seems to have more lag and does not keep up with the fast-paced reactions on the battlefield when compared to PC.

My Xbox One S does run smoother and the movement feels natural like it does on PC. The only thing I have trouble with on PC is aiming and shooting with a mouse and keyboard. The character moves through the map smoothly even though there are multiple people on the map at the same time. Climbing ladders in warzone is highly frustrating as you can be running past them shooting and suddenly, you are halfway up a ladder.

PC does seem to have a wider plane of view than Xbox. The reaction time from the moment you click the mouse to the gun shooting seems to have a quicker reaction but switching from a controller to keyboard and mouse is not an easy task and you will be tempted to throw out the whole computer.

Don’t forget! You can always plug a controller into the PC.

GRAPHICS & VISUALS

The game runs smoother than blackout or PUBG in my opinion. In other games, you will be parachuting in and everything looks like clay every time.

The environment has a lot of detail covering the map in realistic trees, buildings, and vehicles.

The characters have unique styles but do not allow customization, only skins. Being able to customize is awesome in RPG’s but I do not think it is necessary for this game style.

DO I RECOMMEND IT?

One hundred times yes. I highly recommend playing this game. Especially if you are big into first person shooters and the multiplayer aspect. The game has built in communication to use without having to utilize a mic to communicate with your team. It’s practically the same on Xbox and PC. The gun customization allows you to pick your play style and get creative with your wins. The graphics are fantastic for a battle royal game. It’s likely you will get addicted to this ever changing battle royal game. Check out their trailer below!
